Trauma, Anxiety, and Self-Esteem Therapy
for Women in Michigan
Specializing in helping women heal from painful experiences and become more confident in themselves
You’re tired of waiting for the day when things get better.
Can you relate?
You feel like something is wrong with you and you just don’t know how to fix it
You don’t trust your instincts and feel paralyzed when you need to make a decision
You have a hard time sleeping because your mind races and your body won’t relax
You constantly replay conversations in your head to figure out what you did wrong
You know that something needs to change and you can’t keep living like this. Maybe you’ve been to therapy before, maybe you’ve read all the self-help books, or maybe you follow self-help gurus on social media, but nothing has really helped. You haven’t found the lasting change or personal growth that you’ve been searching for.
I want to help you break free from the patterns that are holding you back.
What if you could have unhurried time to process trauma, heal negative beliefs, and increase confidence without being limited by the traditional therapy hour?
Intensive Therapy might be right for you if…
- You have an issue you want to work on and you want to make progress quickly
- Your schedule is so demanding that a weekly therapy appointment feels too overwhelming to commit to
- You’ve been in weekly therapy for months or years but you feel like you’re stuck or frustrated with your lack of progress
Hi, I’m Lauren!
I’m a licensed professional counselor. I work with women who often have good understanding of their problems, but are still feeling stuck. I want to offer you the opportunity to dive deep and address issues at their roots without the constraints of the typical therapy hour. This is a space where you can be your truest self without judgement.
Brainspotting Intensive FAQ
What is a Brainspotting Intensive?
Brainspotting is a powerful brain-body therapy that taps into your brain’s natural healing abilities. It allows you to connect the thinking part of your brain with the feeling part of your brain, allowing for the integration of experiences.
Intensives are an accelerated form of therapy that allows you to feel better faster. Instead of meeting weekly for 50-60 minutes, intensive sessions last for 3 hours (90 minutes at a time) for 1-3 days.
Intensives have targeted treatment goals with a personalized treatment plan. The focus of the Intensive is on diving deeply into an issue in a safe, supportive environment.
Intensives offer the opportunity to resolve or lessen troubling symptoms and concerns at their core without the limits of the traditional therapy hour. Length of overall time in treatment and cost of therapy may decrease because time isn’t spent on:
- checking in at the beginning of session
- addressing stress in your day-to-day life or “the crisis of the week”
- developing coping skills you won’t need after your symptoms are resolved
- help you regain composure at the end of session
How does intensive therapy work?
First, we’ll meet for a 30 minute video consulation call and we’ll go over any questions you might have, what you want help with in treatment, and determine if intensive therapy is a good fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule a Pre-Intensive Assessment.
During the Pre-Intensive Assessment, we’ll create your personalized treatment plan and identify what we’re going to focus on during our time together. We’ll also talk about what your life looks like (the problems you’re dealing with, how do you cope when you’re overwhelmed by emotions and body sensations, what your support system looks like) and where you want to see change, relief, or growth.
On our Intensive Day(s), we’ll work to decrease the pain you experience while also increasing your ability to feel confident and empowered using Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body therapy that allows us to reach deep parts of the brain.
Some people choose to process experiences in relationships, past events, current problems, or worries about the future. Your treatment plan will be personalized to you and what you hope to achieve.
After our Intensive Days, we’ll meet for a Post-Intensive Aftercare session to reflect on your experience, identify what was helpful to you, and explore how to integrate your new insights into your life moving forward.
What can Brainspotting Intensive Therapy help with?
Intensive therapy can help with a whole host of issues, including:
- PTSD or traumatic experiences
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Negative self-talk or limiting beliefs (IE: “I’m not good enough.”)
- Grief, loss, or change
- Racial or generational trauma
- Childhood abuse or neglect
- Sexual assault or domestic violence
- Accidents, illness, or medical trauma
- Persistent or longstanding issues
- “Stuckness”
What happens in a Brainspotting session?
Brainspotting is different from traditional talk therapies. In a Brainspotting session, I’ll ask you to focus on a specific issue that you want to address. Then we’ll check to see if you feel any activation around the issue in your body. After that, I’ll help you find a brainspot (eye position) that feels connected to the issue.
After we find the brainspot, I’ll ask you to notice the thoughts, feelings, and body sensations that arise. This is called focused mindfulness. It’s not unusual for people to remember old memories, feel waves of emotions and body sensations, or to see images. Discomfort is a normal part of the process because we are dealing with painful experiences that were not able to be properly processed by your brain. I’ll be there to guide you through it safely.
Because Brainspotting is different from talk therapy, I will encourage you to keep noticing what comes up but I try to say as little as possible so that I don’t interrupt your deep processing. Your brain is amazing and can heal on its own if it’s given the time and space to. After you’ve finished Brainspotting, we’ll debrief what the experience was like for you.
What can I expect to accomplish in a 1, 2, or 3 day intensive?
A 1 day intensive offers the opportunity to increase confidence or significantly decrease the painful symptoms (such as negative beliefs, intrusive memories, nightmares, disturbing emotions or body sensations) of a single event trauma.
Although significant healing is possible in a 1 day intensive, Complex PTSD (CPTSD) often requires additional treatment time. Many of my clients with CPTSD choose to continue trauma work through monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly intensive days.
Participating in a 2-3 day intensive may create impactful change more rapidly than weekly therapy or even a 1 day intensive. During our initial consultation, we’ll identify which format is best suited for your needs.
Would the intensive be online or in person?
Intensives can be scheduled online (via Zoom) or in person at your location. Intensive sessions are similar to a personal retreat. Some clients prefer to book a hotel room to limit distractions and ensure they can truly focus on their healing during the intensive. It is important to allow time outside of sessions be unscheduled or filled with self-care activities such as massage or acupuncture, exercise, being in nature, or creative expression.
How much do Intensives cost?
Intensives are a premium service. As such, higher fees are charged because they require more work, energy, and schedule flexibility.
Intensive sessions are $200/hour and packages start at $1,200 for a 1 Day Intensive.
