brainspotting & EMDR intensives in Michigan & Washington

Take care of your problems at their roots

An Intensive can help you break free from the patterns that are holding you back.

A Therapy Intensive is an accelerated form of therapy that allows you to work on issues and make progress more quickly. Instead of the traditional therapy model of meeting for 45-60 minutes each week, Intensives offer 8-12 hours of targeted therapy over 2-3 days using Brainspotting or EMDR to get to the root of your concerns.

What if you could have unhurried time to process issues, heal negative beliefs, and increase confidence?

You know something needs to change and that you can’t keep living like this. Maybe you’ve been to therapy before, maybe you’ve read all the self-help books, or maybe you follow self-help gurus on social media, but nothing has really worked. You still haven’t found lasting change or personal growth and you don’t know how to get there.

Meet Lauren

Your intensive therapist

I’m a licensed professional counselor and I specialize in helping women heal from painful experiences. Many of my clients have been struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or traumatic experiences.

I work with women who often have good understanding of their problems, but are still feeling stuck. With an intensive, I can offer you the opportunity to dive deep and address issues at their roots without the constraints of the typical therapy hour. You deserve to have the time and space to do the deep healing work you need to do in order to move forward in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Intensives are an accelerated form of therapy that allows you to make progress more quickly. Instead of meeting weekly for 50-60 minutes, intensive sessions last for 4 hours for 2-3 days.

Intensives have targeted treatment goals with a personalized treatment plan. The focus of the Intensive is on diving deeply into an issue in a safe, supportive environment. During the Intensive, we will use Brainspotting and EMDR, which are powerful brain-body therapies that focus on bridging the gap between the “thinking” brain and the “emotional” brain.

Intensives offer the opportunity to resolve or lessen troubling symptoms and concerns at their core without the limits of the traditional therapy hour. Length of overall time in treatment and cost of therapy may decrease because time isn’t spent on:

  • checking in at the beginning of session
  • addressing stress in your day-to-day life or “the crisis of the week”
  • developing coping skills you won’t need after your symptoms are resolved
  • help you regain composure at the end of session

First, we’ll meet for a 30 minute video consulation call and we’ll go over any questions you might have, what issue you want to work on, and determine if intensive therapy is a good fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule a Pre-Intensive Assessment.

During the Intake Assessment, we’ll create your personalized treatment plan and identify what we’re going to focus on during our time together. We’ll also talk about what your life looks like (the problems you’re dealing with, how do you cope when you’re overwhelmed by emotions and body sensations, what your support system looks like) and where you want to see change, relief, or growth.

On our Intensive Days, we’ll work to decrease the emotional pain you experience while also increasing your ability to feel confident and empowered using Brainspotting and EMDR, powerful brain-body therapies that allows us to reach deep parts of the brain.

Some people choose to process experiences in relationships, past events, current problems, or worries about the future. Your treatment plan will be personalized to you and what you hope to achieve.

After our Intensive Days, we’ll meet for a Post-Intensive Aftercare session to reflect on your experience, identify what was helpful to you, and explore how to integrate your new insights into your life moving forward.

An Intensive can help with a whole host of issues, including:

  • PTSD or traumatic experiences
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Negative self-talk or limiting beliefs (IE: “I’m not good enough.”)
  • Grief, loss, or change
  • Racial or generational trauma
  • Childhood abuse or neglect
  • Sexual assault or domestic violence
  • Accidents, illness, or medical trauma
  • Persistent or longstanding issues
  • “Stuckness”

An intensive offers the opportunity to increase confidence or significantly decrease the painful symptoms (such as negative beliefs, intrusive memories, nightmares, disturbing emotions or body sensations).

1 Day Intensives are only offered for children and teens. Children usually do not have as many negative life experiences that may be contributing to distress and often process issues more rapidly than adults.

Adults participating in a 2-3 day intensive can create impactful change more rapidly than weekly therapy. During our initial consultation, we’ll identify which format is best suited for your needs.

Although significant healing is possible in a 2 or 3 day intensive, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) often requires additional treatment time. It is not realistic to expect complete relief of C-PTSD symptoms after 3 days. Many of my clients with C-PTSD choose to continue trauma work through monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly intensive days.

Intensives are a premium service. Higher fees are charged because they require more preparation, energy, and schedule flexibility.

My fee is $150/hour. There is an additional cost if you prefer your intensive to occur in person at your location and these packages are billed at $225/hour.

50% of the package fee is due at the time of scheduling and the remaining balance is due prior to your first Intensive Day. Packages are non-refundable.
